Finally gave in and tried those dollar store sponge scourers after swearing by the name brand ones for years
I was totally against it because I figured they'd fall apart after one day. Grabbed a 4 pack for $1.25 at the one on Main Street last Monday and honestly they're still holding up after a full week. Scrubbed caked on grease from a cast iron pan and it came off way easier than I expected. Only catch is they don't have the scrubby backing that the expensive ones have so it's just a sponge. But for a buck twenty five I could buy 5 packs before hitting the price of one Scrub Daddy. Has anyone else found a dollar store item that actually surprised you?

I actually read somewhere that dollar store sponges are made in the same factories as the name brand ones, just without the fancy packaging. My mom swears by the ones from Dollar Tree for her kitchen and she's been using them forever without issues.

Wait, is that true? Because that would honestly explain so much. My grandma has been using the same yellow dollar store sponges for like 20 years and her kitchen is spotless. I always figured they were just cheap and flimsy, but if they're the same stuff in a different wrapper then I've been wasting money at the grocery store this whole time. Your mom sounds like she knows what she's doing, I might have to side-eye my name brand sponge next time I buy one.
