Chose a $15 pawn shop sewing machine over a $200 new one and it's been running smooth for 2 years now.
Was between that and a cheap new model at Walmart, went with the old Singer because it's all metal inside, anyone else trust vintage gear over new budget stuff?

That old all-metal Singer is probably gonna outlive you. My dad's got a 1950s Husqvarna that he picked up at a garage sale for twenty bucks, still sews through four layers of denim like butter. Meanwhile my neighbor's brand new plastic Brother crapped out after six months, the tension assembly just gave up. Funny how they don't make stuff like they used to, even the cheap stuff back then had actual metal gears.

Honestly, I feel you. My old Kenmore is a tank, outlasted three new ones easy.
