Chat with a plumber about my water bill turned into a $9 fix
He said the toilet was running nonstop and showed me how to swap a flapper in 10 minutes, since then I've checked all three toilets and saved at least 30 gallons a day, anyone else ever miss the simple stuff like that?

Aw man, that's a classic! I did the exact same thing last year with my guest bathroom. Water bill jumped like crazy and I was ready to call a pro, but a buddy pointed out the flapper was just worn out. Twenty bucks and five minutes later, problem solved. It's wild how we always assume the worst and skip the easy stuff first. My motto now is check the cheap parts before you ever pick up the phone. You saved way more than money too, that's a solid feeling.
