Why does nobody talk about buying a $300 mortar board instead of mixing on a scrap of plywood
I finally dropped about $300 on a real mortar board after mixing on a beat up sheet of plywood for way too long. I do mostly small repair jobs around Tucson so I figured it was a waste of money, but the hawk and board combo has saved my back on every chimney patch since March. The mix stays workable longer because the wood actually pulls the right amount of water, and I am not chasing crumbs off the ground every ten minutes. My old setup cost me maybe $8 and honestly it wrecked more batches than I want to admit. Has anyone else paid up for a real board, or am I the only one who waited this long to stop being cheap about it?
