That fancy mortar mixer I bought off Craigslist cost me $350 in repairs

Guy in Cleveland said it was barely used, a MixerMax brand. Got it home and the paddles were bent all wrong, threw the whole drum off balance after I mixed three batches. Spent more fixing the wobble than the mixer cost me. Any of you guys ever get burned by used gear like that?

That line about "barely used, a MixerMax brand" got me. I bought a used table saw once from a guy who swore it was "only used for one project." Got it home and the blade guard was held on with zip ties and the fence was so out of square it took me an afternoon just to get it within a quarter inch across the cut. Spent another $80 on parts that were supposed to be standard but turned out to be from a discontinued model. Some people's definition of "barely used" is pretty creative.

@river_hall44 maybe that one project was rebuilding the whole thing from scratch.
