Teaching my nephew to lay bricks was a highlight of my week
I showed my nephew how to spread mortar today. He's only ten but he picked it up fast. When he placed his first brick straight, he beamed with pride. It reminded me why I love this trade. Sharing it with family makes it even better.

You know how the best parts of life are often these quiet, normal moments? I see it when my neighbor shows his kid how to change a tire, or when a friend teaches her niece a family recipe. It's not really about the task itself. It's that you're handing over a little piece of how you move through the world. Those small lessons build something way bigger than a wall or a meal. They build a person.

Yeah, exactly! It's like the real stuff gets passed down in those boring Tuesday moments, not the big speeches.

Believed bricklaying was just a job for years. Your story about your nephew hit me different. Seeing that pride in a kid's eyes, it's not about the bricks, it's about passing something on. I used to think skills were only for paying bills, but now I get they're for connecting people. That kind of moment is what makes a trade MEAN something.
