Shoutout to the guy who told me to buy a $50 brick trowel

I've been using the same cheap $15 trowel from Home Depot for two years. Finally broke down and got a Marshalltown at a supply house near Louisville. First day using it, my wrist didn't ache after 8 hours of laying block on a retaining wall. That little extra balance and spring in the blade made a huge difference. Anyone else notice that paying a bit more for hand tools actually pays off quick?

And the funny thing is, nobody talks about how the handle shape actually changes the way you apply pressure to the mud. I was having trouble with my wrist aching after a long day of taping, then I switched to a different handle style and it made a huge difference. The way the handle sits in your hand affects how even your coats come out. It's not just about the brand name, it's about how the tool fits your grip and your specific style of working.
