Overheard a foreman say buttering both ends is faster, tried it today...
Guy on the site claimed it saves 3 hours a day. I tested it on a garage wall in Columbus, ended up with mortar everywhere and a crooked corner. Has anyone actually made this work without a mess?

Man that cleanup is brutal, I feel for you. Tried that buttering method once on a small retaining wall and ended up with mortar caked on my boots, the trowel, and half the bricks. Foremen love to act like there's some secret trick that makes everything easy but they never mention you need a perfect mix and the right touch. Gets messy real fast if you're not used to it. You probably lost more time cleaning up than you saved.
