Noticed a lot of crews skipping the line on the second course lately

I keep seeing walls where the second course of block is laid without snapping a line, just following the first. Did a repair on a garage in Toledo last month where the whole thing was out by almost an inch over 20 feet. It matters because once you're that far off, everything else like doors and windows gets thrown. How do you guys keep your long runs straight after the base course?

Honestly an inch over twenty feet seems like nothing. Tbh most stuff can absorb that without anyone even noticing.

My contractor said that inch can throw off a whole foundation.

Honestly I gotta push back a little here, @zara_hill46. An inch might seem tiny but over a long run it can cause some real headaches (like doors not closing right or tiles cracking down the road). I'm not saying every house is gonna fall down, but I wouldn't just brush it off either.
