Just realized my kid built a brick wall behind the shed

I was cleaning up and found a small brick wall behind our shed. My ten-year-old must have done it with leftover bricks from my last job. The joints are messy and the line isn't level. I'm proud he tried, but I want to teach him the right way. Any tips for introducing a kid to bricklaying without making it feel like work?

My local hardware store had a free kids' workshop on basic bricklaying last summer. They focused on small, fun projects like building a brick birdhouse base. The instructor let the kids use old bricks and practice with a cheap trowel. He turned leveling into a game by calling it "finding the flat planet." You could set up a similar challenge, like seeing who can make the straightest line with a string guide. Just keep it light and let him get messy with the mortar.

The mortar's the real issue there, but you can make fixing it a game.

So is it like a tiny fort wall or just a random stack? That's awesome either way! @robinson.adam's workshop idea is cool, my kid did something similar and just loved slapping the mortar around.
