I switched to a fat joint for my corners and it messed up my whole rhythm

Always heard the pros say use a skinny joint for corners so I did it for 5 years, but tried a heaping fat one last week on a fireplace project in Denver and the lines came out way cleaner. Has anyone else had better luck going against the standard advice on joint size?

Heard a guy on a jobsite swear fat joints were the secret to Denver corners too.

Good to see another person backing @hugo_nelson on this.

...wait, are we really overthinking joint size this much? I get that Denver corners can be finicky with humidity and all, but I've seen guys get clean lines with everything from a tight 1/8 to a big 3/8 just by adjusting their speed and pressure. The whole "skinny joint is gospel" thing feels like one of those rules that gets repeated until nobody questions it. Your mileage may vary obviously, but I'd bet most of the difference came from you being more careful since you were trying something new.
