I finally had a day where everything just lined up perfect

Last Tuesday was one of those rare days where nothing went wrong on a job. I was working on a small garden wall over in Oak Park, just a simple 20 foot run with a curve at the end. The mortar mix came out exactly right on the first try, not too wet not too dry, and every brick I picked up fit like it was made for that spot. No chipping, no having to grind anything down, and the string line stayed tight the whole time. I even finished an hour early, which never happens when I'm doing curves. Got paid cash by the homeowner, a solid $350 for basically 5 hours of work. Has anyone else had a day where it felt like you couldnt mess up no matter what?

The universe was just paying you back for all those days where nothing goes right. That's how it works in trades like ours, it's like a cosmic balance sheet. You grind through the bad mortar days and the brick that splits in half for no reason, and then one day everything just clicks. The wall you built will probably outlast the house now too, because that perfect mix cures like concrete honey.

@uma_baker99 nailed it with the cosmic balance sheet thing, I swear every trade has those weeks where nothing bonds right and then out of nowhere you get a pour that sets like glass. Keep a spray bottle of water and a clean trowel handy when you're riding that high, because pushing too fast on a perfect batch will still mess it up. The wall you built today is gonna be someone's problem fifty years from now, which is about the best compliment you can get in this line of work.
