Water heater took a dump, plumber's question made me rethink everything
My 20 year old water heater finally rusted out last Thursday, so I called a plumber out to my place in New Hampshire. He asked why I was replacing it instead of looking into a heat pump unit with the rebates. I told him I couldn't swing the upfront cost, and he just said, 'You've paid for that old one three times over in electric bills by now.' That hit different because I never actually added up what I was spending monthly to keep that clunker going. Has anyone else done the math on an old appliance and felt dumb after? I'm curious what else I'm bleeding money on without noticing.
