Warning: my 6 month electric bill dropped from $140 a month to $61 after one swap
I finally pulled the old chest freezer out of my basement in Barre, Vermont and replaced it with a $210 7 cubic foot one. My electric bill went from about $140 a month to $61, and that gap held steady for six months before I trusted it. I checked with a kill-a-watt from the library and the old unit was pulling 4.2 kWh a day, while the new one sits around 1.1. Has anyone else found an appliance that was secretly eating their bill like that?
