Tried growing potatoes in a 5 gallon bucket instead of a garden bed
I live in southern NH where the soil is basically rocks and clay. Last spring I drilled holes in a bucket, filled it with straw and compost, and threw in some seed potatoes. By August I dumped it out and got 8 pounds of spuds off one bucket. Never had that kind of yield from my actual garden plot. Anyone else use containers for stuff that normally goes in the ground?

Honestly, 8 pounds from one bucket sounds like too much fuss for potatoes.

Oh wow, I actually saw this YouTube video where this guy tried it and he kept going on about how the soil temp matters more than anything else. He said if you don't get it just right the potatoes end up all small and disappointing anyway.
