Tried canning beans for the first time, still picking glass out of my kitchen floor
Followed the recipe down to the pound, but my cheap pressure canner ran hot and two jars blew up on the counter. I lost about $12 in beans and an afternoon, but now I just stick to freezing stuff or buying the cans on sale. Anyone else ever skip canning after a mess like that, or am I the only stubborn one left?

Did you check the seal on that canner before you started, or was it one of those older models where the gauge is basically a guess? I'm asking because I know two people who had the same blowout and it was the rubber gasket wearing out, not the heat. Freezing is safer for sure, but if you ever try again, a new gasket is like eight bucks and fixes half the problem.
