Thinking of buying that budget solar setup for your Cape Cod cabin? Pump the brakes.

I wired up a 200-watt Renogy kit at my place near Plymouth back in March. Worked fine for 3 days, then a heavy rain shorted out the charge controller because the weatherproof seal on the junction box was just a sticker, not a gasket. Had to drive 45 minutes to the nearest solar supply shop for a replacement. Anyone else run into this with the cheaper off-grid gear?

Did Renogy even offer to replace that thing?

Three weeks ago I called Renogy about my 200W panel that stopped working after two months. They put me on hold for 45 minutes and then told me to email photos to their support address. That was three weeks ago and I still haven't heard back. The panel just sits in my garage now, basically a very expensive paperweight. I feel your pain, it's really frustrating when a company acts like they don't care after taking your money. These solar companies seem great until something goes wrong.
