That $12 yard sale wood stove pipe saved my whole winter setup

Last month I was at a yard sale in Keene and saw a beat up wood stove pipe for $12. The owner said it was too rusty but I cleaned it up with a wire brush in about an hour. Now my garage workshop stays at 55 degrees on the coldest mornings, which beats the space heater I was running for $80 a month in electricity. Has anyone else rebuilt old stove parts instead of buying new? Seems like half the stuff people toss just needs a little elbow grease.

That "little elbow grease" comment hit home. My buddy Mike snagged a rusty old barrel stove for $5 at a dump and after a weekend of scrubbing it, he heats his whole shed with scrap pallet wood now.
