Swapped my oil furnace for a heat pump last January, the bill difference shocked me
I'm in central Mass and used to budget $320 a month for oil during winter. After the rebate and federal credit, I paid $6,800 out of pocket for a ductless mini split install. First full winter, my electric bill peaked at $210. Even with the higher rate per BTU, it came out ahead. The big change was learning to set it at 64 degrees and use a space heater in the room I'm actually in. Has anyone else made the switch and seen their backup oil usage drop to almost nothing? My tank is still 3/4 full from last fall.
