Spent $80 on a 'premium' rain barrel that froze solid in November
Bought this fancy cedar rain barrel from a place in Portland, thought it would look nice by the shed, but it cracked right down the middle after our first hard freeze. Anyone else have luck with a specific brand that actually survives a Maine winter?

Drain it before winter hits, that's the main thing. Even a heavy duty barrel will crack if water freezes and expands inside. I use a regular plastic one from the hardware store and just tip it on its side once the temps drop.
