Overheard two guys at the Londonderry dump talking about wood stacks
I was unloading some scrap pine at the transfer station off Route 102 last Thursday and heard one say he's been seasoning his firewood for 18 months but it still smokes like crazy. The other guy told him he's stacking it too tight and not letting any airflow between rows. I realized I've been doing the same thing in my shed, cramming logs in like sardines. Anyone else ever notice their wood isn't drying right because of how you stack it?

That's a real bummer, I've been through the same thing with a cord of oak I had stuffed in my garage corner. I ended up restacking it all in a single row with some pallets underneath and it made a world of difference in just a few weeks.

a real bummer" but I actually like tight stacks, they dry slower but burn longer for me.
