My wood stove pipe collapsed during a snowstorm, and the fix involved a dog leash
Woke up to a bang at 3am during that Nor'easter last Tuesday, found the stove pipe sagged right at the joint because the old brackets rusted out. I used two ratchet straps and a spare dog leash to brace it against the ceiling beam until the hardware store opened, still need to ask if anyone's tried those magnetic pipe supports for a cheap fix?

Did you mean the old brackets rusted or the pipe itself let go? Magnetic pipe supports won't do much for a sagging joint because they only hold the pipe to the stove, not keep it from dropping at the seams. You'd be better off with a proper wall or ceiling bracket that bolts in solid.
