Last Tuesday I was feeding the stove in my place near Keene and the pipe thermometer read 500 for the first time ever. I always figured folks bragging about stove temps were just showing off numbers. But that mark meant my firewood was dry enough, my draft was set right, and I hadn't had to relight the kindling all day.
