My uncle in Bangor said a wood stove would pay for itself in 2 winters, he was off by one
He swore I'd save $1,400 a year on oil if I ran a stove in my 1,100 square foot ranch, and it turned out closer to $600 once I counted the chimney sweep and the cordwood I had to buy. Still worth it for keeping the thermostat at 62 all January. Anyone else tracking actual yearly savings versus what people promise?
