Just realized how much better the old town common in Dover looked before they paved over the dirt paths

I stopped by the Dover town common last weekend, and it got me thinking. That gravel path they replaced with asphalt in 2018 just doesn't have the same feel when you're walking to the farmers market. Has anyone else noticed their local common losing character over the years?

Is it just me or does everything feel like it's getting stripped of its soul for the sake of being easier to maintain?

Honestly, the phrase "stripped of its soul" hits hard. A buddy of mine bought this old fixer-upper house, and the original woodwork and quirky built-ins were all ripped out for cheap drywall and generic cabinets. He said it works fine now, but it feels like a hotel room, not a home.
