Hit 12 straight months without buying new clothes, best accidental challenge yet

Back in November last year my dryer died. The repair guy quoted me $275 just for the part. I looked at my overflowing closet and said, you know what? I am not fixing this thing and I am not buying anything new for a year. Twelve months later and I still wear the same 7 shirts and 4 pairs of jeans. One pair has a patch on the knee, another got re-hemmed twice. The trick was learning to darn socks with a cheap kit from the craft store. I also traded two old work hoodies for a winter coat someone was giving away on Facebook. Best part? My electric bill dropped about $18 a month because I stopped running the dryer for almost everything. I only use the laundromat for sheets and towels now. Anyone else try a no-buy stretch for something besides food? Did you actually make it or did you cave around month 3 like my cousin in Worcester?

Pretty sure darning is knitting, not fixing socks with a patch.
