Warning: my $150 air fryer died at month 7, and the inside looked like a crime scene
Bought it in January, and by July the coating on the basket was flaking off in little black chips. I didn't notice until I pulled out a batch of fries and half of them had specks on them. I know that's probably my fault for scrubbing it with a green pad, but the manual says dishwasher safe and I ran it maybe 20 times in a machine in my apartment here in Columbus. Also, the fan started making a grinding noise around month 6, which was the start of the end. Now I'm trying to figure out if this is a me problem or if these things just aren't built to last a year. Has anyone else had the coating go bad that fast, and did you just toss it or get a replacement under the 1 year warranty?
the manual says dishwasher safe" is the part that gets me, because that label seems to mean almost nothing now. I've seen the same thing with nonstick pans and kettle coatings, where the fine print says safe but the heat and soap still tear it up in months. It feels like a pattern where stuff gets sold as low upkeep but is really just built to hit a price.
