Vent: my $35 coffee grinder quit after 43 days, and the counter girl at the return desk told me something I can't stop thinking about
I bought this cheap burr grinder back in March because my old blade one finally gave up. It worked fine for about six weeks and then the motor just started making this awful screeching noise and died mid grind. I took it back to the store on a Tuesday afternoon, fully ready to argue about the return policy, and the girl working the counter didn't even blink. She scanned my receipt, typed something, and said "yeah this is the fourth one of these I've done this month." Four. In one store, in one month, same model. That number stuck with me way more than the broken grinder did. I get that cheap stuff breaks, I'm not naive, but hearing that a single employee had processed four of the exact same failure in a few weeks made me wonder how many people just eat the loss and never bother returning it. Anyone else had a return clerk drop a number on you that made you rethink buying cheap? Or am I the only one who asks nosy questions at the service desk?
