TIL my old botany professor in Milwaukee was right about not babying seedlings
Back in 2019 my professor pulled me aside after class and said my tray of tomato starts looked "loved to death," and that I should water less and let them struggle a bit. I figured he was just old school and kept misting them twice a day anyway. Three weeks later mine were leggy and pale while his scraggly untouched tray in the greenhouse looked thick and green. I finally tried his way last spring with peppers and got the strongest starts I've ever had, so now I mostly leave them alone. Has anyone else had a mentor push the lazy approach and been surprised it actually works?
