Stopped killing my orchids after I tried the ice cube trick 3 months ago

I kept overwatering my orchids until my neighbor in Tampa told me to just drop 3 ice cubes on the bark every week. No measuring, no guessing. Three months later I have new roots and a spike forming for the first time since I bought the plant. Has anyone else had luck with this or is it just a lazy person's hack that works most of the time?

The ice cube trick is legit for most phals, just make sure they're not sitting in direct sun or the cold water can shock the roots. Your mileage may vary with smaller pots though, I had to drop it to 2 cubes on a 4 inch pot.

Totally agree on the small pot thing, I burned a root before I learned to cut back to 2 cubes.

Really dialing in the water amount made a huge difference for me. I started with 3 cubes in a 4 inch pot and got leaf yellowing after a month. Dropped to 2 cubes every 7-10 days and it bounced back fine now. Your mileage may definitely vary based on your home's humidity.
