Shoutout to the marigold seeds I nearly tossed in the trash
I threw a handful of leftover marigold seeds from last spring into a crack in my driveway back in June, basically as a joke. Three months later that crack is now a full on yellow bush about 2 feet wide, no soil amendment no watering nothing. I tried so hard to keep basil alive in a fancy pot with special dirt and it died in 4 days. Meanwhile these seeds just found a sliver of concrete and went to town. Has anyone else had a plant just completely ignore your expectations like this?

Saw a video recently where a guy grew tomatoes in straight up gravel with nothing but water and they did better than his garden bed plants. Same deal with mint throwing it in a bare dirt patch and it taking over the whole yard while the stuff in pots shriveled up. It's like some plants get stubborn when they have to fight for it. Concrete cracks probably hold heat and drain well so they trick these weeds into thinking they're in some kind of perfect desert climate. Nature is weird man.

Tbh that's concrete's superpower, making plants grow way better than any dirt ever could.
