Picked a $9 pothos over a $40 calathea at the plant shop on Grand Ave and it finally paid off
Stopped by this little plant shop on Grand Ave in St. Paul about two months ago and stood there way too long trying to pick between a big leafy calathea and a plain little pothos in a 4 inch pot. The calathea was $40 and gorgeous with those purple undersides, but the pothos was $9 and looked kind of boring, just green and plain in the corner. I went with the pothos because I remembered my calathea from 2 winters ago dropped every leaf when my apartment got dry. Fast forward to now and that little pothos has thrown out 5 new leaves and a vine that's already reaching past the edge of my shelf. I propped a cutting in water last week and it's got tiny roots starting. It's not the flashiest plant I own but it's the one that actually grew for me. Anyone else find that the cheap plain plant ends up being the one you baby the most?
