My new Monstera albo cutting got root rot after 2 days in my Denver apartment

I was so excited to finally get one, paid $80 for a single leaf node. I put it in my usual mix but my place is super dry and I think I overwatered it trying to help. The stem turned mushy and I had to cut it all back. Anyone have a good method for rooting these in low humidity?

Eighty dollars for a single leaf node is wild. I'd be so mad if it rotted that fast. I've had good luck just putting them in a clear cup of water on a windowsill here, even when it's dry.

Eighty dollars" seems like the real problem here.

Hate seeing that. Been there myself with a rare plant I dropped a chunk of cash on. Watched it slowly rot for weeks. These things can be so fragile even when you do everything right. Hope you get a replacement or a refund.
