My neighbor told me to stop overwatering my jade plant and I didn't listen

He warned me like 6 months ago that the yellow leaves meant too much water, not too little. I kept giving it a drink every few days because I felt bad for it sitting there. Now the roots are basically mush and I had to chop the whole thing back to stems. Any tips for saving a jade that's been drowned this bad?

Let it dry out completely before you do anything else, like a solid week or two with no water. Then repot in some gritty cactus mix with extra perlite, jades hate staying wet for long.
