My monstera lost 4 leaves in 3 weeks and I finally figured out why last Tuesday
So back in early March I moved my monstera from a north window to a spot right next to my east facing sliding door in my Columbus apartment. I figured more light means more growth, simple math, right? Wrong. Within 3 weeks it shed 4 leaves, the big fenestrated ones, and I kept watering it more because I thought that was the problem. Last Tuesday I finally stuck my finger in the soil before watering and it was still soaked from the week before, so I pulled the pot out of the cover pot and found standing water I never knew was trapped in there. Roots were brown and mushy at the bottom. I've got it drying out on the balcony now and I chopped the rot off, but I feel like such an idiot for not checking the drainage situation for a whole month. Has anyone else killed a plant with kindness like this, and did yours actually bounce back after root rot?
