Had to choose between a $15 grow light and a $200 one for my succulents

Picked the cheap one off Amazon. First week everything looked fine. By week three my echeveria got all leggy and stretched out. Ended up spending the $200 anyway. Anyone else learn this lesson the hard way with lights?

Yeah you know my buddy Mark did the SAME thing. He bought one of those cheap blurple lights from Amazon for his haworthia and figured he was good. Two weeks later his plants looked like they were reaching for the sun on a different planet. They were all pale and stretched out and one actually got sunburned from the light being too close to compensate. He finally broke down and got a proper full spectrum light bar and now his plants are finally compact and actually getting those cool colors again. The cheap ones just can't output enough intensity no matter how close you put them.

Happened to my cousin with his aloe, he kept cranking the blurple up until it literally cooked the tips.
