Felt dumb when my neighbor showed me why my fiddle leaf fig kept dropping leaves after I spent $45 on a humidifier

Turns out it was just getting blasted by cold air from the AC vent right above it, not a humidity issue at all, so has anyone else moved a plant three times before realizing the problem was something obvious like that?

Wait did you check the actual soil moisture before buying the humidifier? I'm curious if the AC was drying it out that fast or if the leaves were just getting cold damage (since cold drafts can make them drop leaves too even if the soil is fine). I've definitely done the plant shuffle thing myself, moved a snake plant three times only to realize it was getting direct afternoon sun through a window reflection that was literally burning the tips. What did the leaves actually look like when they dropped - were they brown and crispy or more yellow and limp? That usually tells you whether it's a watering issue vs a temperature or draft problem.

Check the roots when you repotted it?
