Update: Finally got a clean fold on that tricky marbled paper after three ruined sheets
Turns out my bone folder was too cold from being in the garage, so warming it in my hands for a minute made all the difference. Has anyone else found their tools need a certain temp to work right?

Wait, you keep your bone folder in the garage? Honestly that's the real shocker here, mine would warp or something. Tbh I just keep all my paper stuff inside where it's dry.

Ever tried putting your bone folder in a cup of warm water first? I wonder if humidity plays a bigger role than we talk about.

Huh, never thought of that. Might have to give it a shot next time I'm wrestling with some cardstock.
