I finally noticed the difference in my bookcloth after switching glues

I used wheat paste for two years on my bindings and thought the cloth looked fine until I tried PVA on a project last month. The cloth lays so much flatter now and the corners don't puff up after drying. Has anyone else seen a big change like that from just swapping adhesives?

Wheat paste shrinks more than PVA, which is probably why your corners were puffing up.

man yeah I noticed that too when I was putting up some posters in my garage last month. I mixed up a batch of wheat paste and it was like watching a movie in fast forward the way it shrunk up overnight. had to peel everything off and start over with wallpaper paste instead, way less drama. PVA is definitely more forgiving if you accidentally lay it on too thick or thin.
