Hot take: watching a lady at the Cleveland book fair fix a torn spine with wheat paste and a hair dryer changed how I do repairs
She said the paste needs to be tacky, not wet, before you press the spine down, and I tried it on a 1920s dictionary last week with way better results. Has anyone else switched to wheat paste over PVA for torn hinges, or do you still use both?
