Checked out that old library in Salem and found a book bound with what looked like old wallpaper paste.

Honestly, wallpaper paste sounds about right for a cheap old binding... it's probably not some secret magic glue. They used whatever was on hand back then.

My first thought would have been some weird ritual thing too. I used to assume anything odd from Salem had a spooky reason. Reading up on old bookbinding methods totally changed my view. They really did use whatever cheap stuff was around, like flour paste or animal glue. It makes a lot more sense when you look at how they made things back then. Finding old wallpaper paste in a book is just practical, not paranormal.
