Vent: Dropped $40 on a 'premium' book light and it flickers like crazy

I bought this fancy clip-on light for late night reading and it gives me a headache after 10 minutes. Anyone else run into this with the rechargeable ones or is it just me getting bad luck?

Whoa, wait. Forty bucks on a book light that flickers? That's ridiculous. I've had cheap ones from the drugstore that do that, but I'd be furious spending that much. My wife got one of those rechargeable ones with like 3 brightness levels and it buzzes so bad she can't use it in a quiet room. You're not unlucky, these things are just built poorly half the time.

Honestly I think the issue is those lights use cheap PWM drivers to save battery. I found out the hard way too, some of them even have visible strobe if you wave your hand under them fast.
