Rant: my old book club leader swore I'd hate any book over 400 pages, so I picked one at 612 and finished it in 9 evenings
She ran our Tuesday group at the Ferndale library for 6 years and had a rule against long books, claiming nobody ever finished them. I read all 612 pages of a chunky historical novel anyway and brought 14 sticky notes to the meetup, which turned into our best talk in ages. Now the group is split on whether we should keep the page cap, and I'm curious how other clubs handle the long book problem.
