Pitched that $80 vacuum sealer at a book club meeting - got roasted

Brought a FoodSaver to talk about storing rare first editions. Thought it'd keep dust off. Cost me $80 at Target. Whole group laughed and told me to just use ziplocs. Anyone else waste cash on book storage gadgets that backfired?
