Picked Daniel Deronda over Middlemarch for our book club last spring and nobody wanted to finish it

I thought the Jewish identity stuff would spark debate but instead three people stopped coming and now we stick to books under 400 pages, anyone else have a pick that totally flopped with their group?

Wait, someone actually complained about The Aeneid being fan fiction? @emery_taylor that's genuinely WILD, that guy sounds like he was determined to ruin book club for everyone.

I picked "The Aeneid" for my classics group last fall. Six people signed up, two showed up to the first meeting, and one guy spent the whole time complaining about how Virgil was basically just fan fiction of Homer. We never met again after that one session lol.
