Our moderator said my book club comments were just summarizing the plot, so now I write down three 'why' questions before each meeting.
After she pointed it out, I realized I'd spent four months just retelling what happened instead of asking why the characters did things, which has made our talks about 'The Overstory' way more interesting.

Oh yeah because my deep thoughts are usually just "why did they do that... because the plot needed to happen.
