Our club voted 6 to 3 to ban any book over 500 pages, and I thought it would kill us
Last month at our meeting in the back room of Rosie's Diner on 5th, nine of us spent 40 minutes fighting over a 700 page doorstop and nobody finished it. So we made a rule: nothing over 500 pages for the next 3 months. I was sure this would turn us into a beach read club, but we just did a 210 page mystery and the talk was the best it's been in a long time. Turns out shorter books mean people actually show up having read the thing. Has your club ever tried a page limit, and did it help or backfire?
