Our book club voted 5 to 3 to skip the chapter with the dinner scene last month in Boise
Now half of us say the ending made no sense and the other half say that proves the book worked, so I want to know how your club handles the one chapter somebody always wants to cut.

Skipping a chapter is not the same as the book failing when you skip it. Of course the ending felt off to half your group, you cut out a piece of the story the author put there on purpose. My club only cuts a chapter if we all agree it is truly filler, and that has happened maybe twice in six years.
