I finally gave in and read a Colleen Hoover book after years of avoiding it

My book club picked Verity for our March meeting and I went in ready to hate it. I figured it was just overhyped TikTok romance stuff. But I finished it in two sittings and actually had to apologize to the group for being so dismissive about it. Has anyone else had a book they wrote off turn out way better than expected?

Yeah, same thing happened to me with a book I was certain would be terrible and it surprised me.

come on guys, it's not like the universe is plotting against you... sometimes things just turn out different than you expected, doesn't have to be a whole cosmic thing. @christopher402 i think you're reading way too deep into a book being decent.
