I bought the whole book series before our club even voted on the first one

I mean, I got too excited about our next pick and spent like $80 on all four books in that new fantasy series. We only ended up reading the first one, and the group hated it, so we dropped it. Now I've got three brand new books just sitting on my shelf that I'll probably never read. I should have just waited for the vote, idk. Has anyone else ever jumped the gun on a series that your club ended up hating?

Ugh, I feel that. I bought a whole trilogy because the cover art was cool, and my club noped out after one chapter. My bookshelf is basically a museum of bad guesses.

Totally get the impulse buy thing. My old book club had this phase where we were all about mystery box sets from thrift stores. Grabbed this whole series of nautical mysteries once, like six books with ships on the covers. The first one was so boring we called it "boat-putting." Now I just use them as a stand for my wobbly lamp.

Tell me about it. I bought a whole box set after one good review and my club called it unreadable. Now they're just expensive coasters.
